Air Force Base Histories
Patrick, Wright-Patterson, and Edwards — ARIA’s home stations
Histories of the three Air Force bases that were home stations for Apollo / Advanced Range Instrumentation Aircraft: Patrick (now Patrick Space Force Base), Wright-Patterson, and Edwards. Original summaries with U.S. government public-domain photographs. These pages sit beside the ARIA archive pages for the same bases; they do not replace them.
For ARIA operations, AOCC procedures, and unit details at each station, use the existing archive entries under ARIA History (Patrick, Wright-Patterson, Edwards). The pages below cover each base’s own story and place ARIA in that longer timeline.

The Eastern Range’s coastal home: Banana River Naval Air Station, then Patrick AFB, now Patrick Space Force Base.
1917–presentWright-Patterson Air Force Base
Dayton’s aviation birthplace: Huffman Prairie, two fields that became one base, and decades of Air Force research, logistics, and flight test.
1933–presentEdwards Air Force Base
Rogers Dry Lake, the Air Force Test Center, and the desert runway where flight research and spaceflight test culture grew up.
