Point Mugu NAS, CA
Naval Base Ventura County’s Point Mugu airfield—Pacific Missile Range roots on California’s coast near Vandenberg.

Naval Air Station Point Mugu, now part of Naval Base Ventura County, sits on the Oxnard plain facing the Santa Barbara Channel. It was the shore headquarters of the Navy’s Pacific Missile Range, with instrumentation and sea space stretching far into the eastern Pacific.
ARIA’s published mission set included support of tests conducted from ships and ranges as well as from Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg. Point Mugu’s appearance on the deployment list reflects that Western Test Range / Pacific Missile Range world—coastal California as a place to stage, coordinate, or recover in connection with Pacific test events.
Nearby Edwards AFB later became ARIA’s final home station; Vandenberg remained the West Coast spaceport. Point Mugu is the Navy node in that same southern California test geography.
